My name is John Madden and welcome to my site!
A Little About Me...
I was born in southern Ohio, but I grew up in a very small town in
eastern Kentucky. I have always loved working with wood. I have
done carpentry work since i was 16. I bought a few woodworking
tools just to play around with and make some things for my own
house. I was fascinated by the grains, the color, and even the
smell of the wood. The more I learned about different woods and
joinery techniques the more I wanted to learn. I started making a
few things for family members and friends. Each time I would try
something a little more difficult. A few years ago i was lucky
enough to spend a great deal of time working under an English
joiner learning as much as I could about traditional
woodworking techniques. I am very fortunate to have had such a
friend.
I take great pride in my craft and it shows in the final product.
Everything I make, Is made with a true love for this art and an
uncompromising attention to detail. I believe that authentic
craftsmanship is becoming a lost art. There is a true peace in
creating something with your hands.
When you order a piece from me, you can be sure that it will be
crafted with the most meticulous eye. All my drawers are dove
tailed and on wood slides. All joinery is traditional and made
with real wood, never particle board or veneer. Many pieces are
simply hand rubbed with an oil for a beautiful natural finish. I
also do lacquer finishes and hand rubbed varnishes.
As you shop around, think about the quality of the wood, the
craftsmanship, and the details. I guarantee you will love your
customized piece...Almost as much as I loved building it.
